Forcalquier, an authentic getaway in Haute-Provence
Nestled between the Luberon and the Lure mountain, Forcalquier captivates with its Provençal charm and art of living. The former capital of an independent county, the town preserves a rich medieval heritage: cobbled streets, lively squares, ancient fountains… From the Citadel, the panoramic view over the Durance valley is spectacular.
Located in the heart of Haute-Provence, Forcalquier is a lively and cultural destination from spring to the end of summer.
From April onwards, the town comes alive around its famous Monday Provençal market, one of the most renowned in the region, offering a true immersion in local flavors and lifestyle. Spring is also punctuated by concerts, shows, and cultural events, as well as sporting events like the Haute-Provence trail race, which attracts many visitors.
In June, family activities, open gardens and the festivals take place, in a friendly and sunny atmosphere.
Summer (July and August) marks the peak of the tourist season. Forcalquier hosts several music and performance festivals, including classical music concerts and eclectic programs in heritage sites. Visitors also enjoy open-air cinemas, exhibitions, theater, craft markets, and food festivals showcasing the products of Haute-Provence.
This period offers an ideal balance between cultural activity, Provençal authenticity and a relaxed lifestyle, making Forcalquier a particularly popular destination between April and August.
The accommodation is located in the heart of a small hamlet consisting of only three houses, nestled at the end of a path, surrounded by nature, in absolute peace and quiet.
By train:
Forcalquier does not have a direct train station. The nearest TER (regional express train) station is La Brillanne-Oraison, approximately 12 km away, served by regional trains from Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, and Briançon. For long-distance travel, the TGV (high-speed train) station in Aix-en-Provence provides connections to Paris, Lyon, and Avignon. From there, connections by bus or taxi are necessary to reach Forcalquier.
By bus:
The ZOU! regional network serves Forcalquier via several bus lines connecting it to neighboring towns such as Manosque, La Brillanne, and Sisteron. These connections provide easy access to train stations and major highways. To check timetables and plan your journey, visit the official ZOU! transport website or their information service.
By plane:
The nearest airport to Forcalquier is Marseille Provence Airport, located approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes away by car. It offers numerous national and international connections. From the airport, it is possible to reach Forcalquier by combining train and bus services, notably via a connection at Aix-en-Provence TGV station or in Manosque using the ZOU! regional bus lines.
The accommodation is available for weekly rental and we prefer stays of more than 10 days.
A security deposit of €1500 will be required upon arrival.
The beds will be made upon your arrival, but bath towels are not provided.
