Events in Luberon

The traditional popular festivals always characterize each season of the year in the Luberon, although there are many cultural events that take place especially during the summer season.

On All Saints' Day, takes place the traditional Cavalcade d'Apt: formerly known as " lei galoï ", which means a Corso, or parade of horsemen leading the troops of horses and accompanied by decorated chariots and carriages. Initially organized by the young Apt citizens, this parade was a meeting place for families and friends. Today it is organised by the Town Hall and attracts countless tourists.

February-March: on Shrove Tuesday takes place the festival of Les Belles in Cheval Blanc. From early morning there is already a festive atmosphere in the village, which is full of Les Belles looking for young men to invite them to the ball. This tradition continues for almost a century and is followed by the day after Les Belles (Ash Wednesday).

In May, Cucuron and Cabrières d'Aigues welcome the maypole and its fertility festival. The people of the village come to the Luberon to cut down a tree, a procession follows up to the village square where the maypole is put up and remains so for several weeks.

In July, the Corso fleuri (" Flower Parade ") takes place on the Grand Boulevard of Pertuis. This is a great opportunity to get together in a festive and lively atmosphere.

The Luberon is also the place of countless festivals of classical and modern music, as well as "apéros-jazz" and other intimate concerts, of world music or any other kind of music, especially during the mild and warm months, usually from June till September.
