Tourism in the Luberon

The Luberon includes nearly 80 towns and villages, each as charming as the other, and all of them with their own treasures: mill, chapel, church, but also an exceptional view over lavender fields, incredible landscapes like the Provençal Colorado and its shades of ochre... Three of them have been awarded the label "Most beautiful villages in France": Ansouis, with its medieval castle and its church; Gordes, with its hilltop village architecture and its abbey; Roussillon and its unique ochre mines.

The region remains authentic thanks to the rare but still practiced Provençal dialect. As you enter villages and hamlets, you will find the name of the village written in dialect, and this could also be the case for the street names. And if you have little chance of hearing Provençal dialect as such in the local café, you will be soothed by the singing notes of the local accent characteristic for ethnic Provençals.

If you are a wine lover, you can visit the countless wine cellars in the Luberon, and taste their certified by AOC (Appellation d'origine contrôlée) wines. Almost all of them are open for tasting, and so you can explore a full spectrum of grape varieties while enjoying the vineyard landscapes that give this region its unique charm. Reds, whites and rosés are all widely represented: there is something for everyone here! Choose your holiday rental on our website My home in Luberon and enjoy all the benefits of this infinitely fascinating region.
